Like all great stories, this one began with a party. The theme? Glitter. And naturally, I wanted to have the best sparkle outfit I could find. But after searching high and low, it was nowhere to be found. That’s when I began my search on a popular secondhand platform, and my heart sank. There, among endless listings, were glittery fashion treasures collecting dust in closets, far from the dancefloors they were made for. Dresses with tags reading “never worn,” “new with price tag,” “worn once.” My glitter-loving heart broke. It wasn’t fair to the maker of these dresses, nor to the dresses themselves.
I knew something had to change. Initially, I called my company The Devil Wears Glitter—a playful nod to The Devil Wears Prada. Glitter symbolized hope and the fantastic side and beautiful side of fashion, which is craftsmanship, design and beautiful clothing. While “devil” represented the toxic side of fast fashion, think of overconsumption, nature taken over by piles of clothing and the bad surroundings for our workers. But as much as I loved the name, I realized “devil” could be seen as too dark. So I reimagined it, landing on RENTGLAM. Yet I couldn’t leave behind the spirit of The Devil Wears Glitter, so it became my subtitle.
With RENTGLAM, I set out to give these stunning secondhand pieces the lives they deserved. All the items on our website are preloved, chosen for their sparkle and story, ready to be celebrated over and over. Studies show that for an item to make a positive impact, it needs to be worn 30 times. This became my mission: to help each piece reach that 30-wear milestone, shining brightly each time.
So here we are, from one glitter queen to another, inviting you to join this party all year long. Will you help me reach this goal?
